Configured items
A configured item is the bridge between the upstream product configurator and the engineering record. Everything downstream is checked against its stored snapshot, never against a live read.

The upstream configurator in this sandbox still allows an approved configuration to be edited in place, which is exactly the behaviour change request CR-1 asks the configurator team to remove. Until it is removed, the snapshot plus hash plus polling arrangement is the only defence, and it is what the drift poll above exercises.
